The first creek crossing in West Clear Creek. Since the water was
warm, we stayed for a while at this place for some swimming.

Wading upstream, with the gear waterproofed and balancing over
slippery boulders.

A typical scenery at West Clear Creek: water, boulders, and lush
greenery.

A nice pool marked the turn-around point of our day-hike into
the lower end of West Clear Creek.

Our campsite at the mouth of West Clear Creek on Sunday morning.

Montezuma Castle, one of the cliff dwellings of the Sinagua Indians,
is located close to I-17 between West Clear Creek and Wet Beaver Creek.
|
Montezuma Well has also some Indian ruins.

The first pool when entering Wet Beaver Creek from the lower end. This
wonderful spot is only three miles away from the trailhead, so a lot
of local people come here and distribute their trash in the wilderness :-(
|
A few hundred meters upstream from the first pool there is less trash
(fortunately) and a bit more solitude.
