... from a canyoneering trip into Salome Jug (Page 1)
When I came back to Arizona for a visit in May 2003, Steve and Chad had planned
a trip to the famous Salome Jug. Since my first excursion into this unique
canyon didn't went as planned, I joined these two guys, and we had a funny
and interesting day, spending most of the time in the water.
We started the evening before we wanted to enter the canyon, in order to have
enough time the next day. We spent the night on some undevelopped campground
north of Theodore Roosevelt Lake.
Our campsite in the early morning, before to moved on to the Salome Jug.

Theodore Roosevelt Lake.

On our hike we met one of the typical Arizona desert inhabitants: a Gila Monster.

Now the fun begins: Steve just came down the waterslide in the background.

And this is me just before the "point of no return", where the current
gets stronger and the canyon narrower.
