... from Matts first canyoneering trip into Salome Jug (Page 2)

Just klick on the thumbnails to get bigger versions of the images. These are about 100kb in size and should fit on a 800x600 screen.

Swimming lesson
To explore Salome Jug, you basically have to wade and swim ... which is not too easy in ice cold water.

Waterfall
This fall can still be considered harmless, and is a great waterslide.

Discussion in the canyon
Here we think about how to continue ... slide down the falls or rather climb around?

Giving up
When having this view downstream, we decided to climb out of the canyon (at the last possible spot), because it seemed just to dangerous with this amount of water.

Back entrance
The lower end of Salome Jug, where the canyon ends abruptly and Salome is nothing more than a little creek in the desert.

Exploring the other end
Now we're trying to make our way upstream from the bottom ... again packed in neoprene.

The end
But soon we arrive at the 15-feet waterfall which requires a rappell when going down. What does it need to go up?

Holy pool
This picture shows what makes Salome Jug unique among the narrow gorges of Arizona: the color of its granite walls.
