... from Loretta's hike on the Florida Trail

Just klick on the thumbnails to get bigger versions of the images. These are about 100kb in size and should fit on a 800x600 screen.

Image 1
View in northern direction
This view shows the large desert valley in which Tucson is located, as seen from the Florida Trail on the northern slope of the Santa Rita Mountains. However, due to the marginal weather, it's a rather limited view.

Ramblers on the trail
Members of our group on the way uphill. Despite the low temperatures people are hiking in T-shirts, and one even in shorts.
Image 3
McCleary Peak
Looking to the summit which is still partly covered with snow. At that time we didn't know that there will be even more snow a few hours later.

Snow in Arizona
... and the group spreads out to throw some snowballs ...
Image 5
More snow ...
At higher elevations the trail is really covered with snow, up to knee-deep in places. The snow gets deeper, the temperatures drop further.
Image 6
Lunch Break
Because of the low temperatures and the snow the climb up to the summit is cancelled for today. Instead, we enjoy a longer break on this saddle, including some warm drinks.
